The United States and the Iraqi government are launching a new diplomatic initiative to invite Iran and Syria to a "neighbors meeting" on stabilizing Iraq, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Tuesday.

"We hope that all governments seize this opportunity to improve their relations with Iraq and to work for peace and stability in the region," Rice said in remarks prepared for delivery to a Senate committee. Excerpts were released in advance by the State Department

Iranian envoy blasts US, UK, Israel

Posted by alanmirs on February 24, 2007

United Nations, Feb 24: Iran accused the United States, Britain and Israel of making "baseless allegations" about its nuclear ambitions, insisting that it has always considered weapons of mass destruction to be "inhumane, immoral and illegal."

Iran’s deputy U.N. ambassador Mehdi Danesh Yazdi told the U.N. Security Council Friday that his country has an "inalienable right" to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes and would not "give in to the pressures emanating from groundless and unsubstantiated allegations and ulterior political motives."

Britain to Cut 1,600 Troops in Iraq, Blair Says

Posted by alanmirs on February 21, 2007

Around 460 Danish soldiers under British command in southern Iraq will also be withdrawn by August, the government in Copenhagen said today.

“What all this means is not that Basra is how we want it to be,” Mr. Blair said, “but it does mean that the next chapter in Basra’s history can be written by Iraqis.”

Most of the British troops now in Iraq are deployed in and around the port city of Basra near the southern tip of the country

Posted by alanmirs on February 18, 2007

Mad Bush is fanning the flames of another illegal war against Iran for more bloods . Iran nuclear programme is clear and no violation of NPT has been reported by IAEA against Iran . therefore this can’t be regarded as an excuse to start illegal war above international law

U.S. Hypocrisy on Iran
By SHELDON RICHMAN

“It has been clear for some time that Iran has been meddling in Iraq,” says White House spokesman Gordon D. Johndroe

There is something surreal in all this. The U.S. government is warning Iran against meddling in Iraq. But the U.S. government is meddling in Iraq! Is there a clearer case of a pot calling a kettle black?

Neither country should be meddling, but there are important differences. Iraq is next door to Iran but far from the United States. Iraq, backed by the United States, attacked Iran in 1980, leading to a grueling eight-year war, but never attacked the America. Finally, Iran’s next-door neighbor is “hosting” 150,000 U.S. troops. No Iranian troops have been sighted in Canada or Mexico

President Bush and the Continuation of the Lies

President Bush and the Continuation of the Lies

This week, President Bush accused Iran of supplying insurgents in Iraq with the weapons that are being used to kill American soldiers

In making the accusation, Bush knows the American people well and recognizes that the American public will focus on the accusation of "killing American soldiers" rather than on the facts of the accusation
The date "3-2006" bothers me and it should bother you. The date represents March 2006. But the Muslims do not use the Gregorian Calendar. They don’t date things based on the same Western Calendar that we in the West use.

The year 2006, according to Muslim sources I checked with, would actually be the Islamic Year 1384-1385, because the Iranians begin their year in what is the Western month of March

Tehran rejects US weapons claims

Iran ‘does not fear attack by US’

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's interview with ABC

There should be no foreign troops in Iraq, the president told ABC

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said his country does not fear the US military and that any attack would be "severely punished".

Mr Ahmadinejad made the comments in a rare US television interview on Monday.

He was speaking after US officials said they had evidence Iran was providing weapons to Shia militias in Iraq who were attacking the US military.

Iran has rejected allegations by US officials that it has been supplying weapons to Shia militias in Iraq as baseless propaganda
