About CASMII

auf Deutsch francais

Mission Statement

CASMII is an independent campaign organisation with the purpose of opposing sanctions, foreign state interference and military intervention in Iran.

Statement of Purpose

The on-going demonization of Iran as part of the “axis of evil” first initiated by George W. Bush’s 2002 State of the Union Speech, together with the more recent, growing threats of sanctions and military action by the US and Israel against Iran, all continue to seriously escalate international tension.

They are likely to lead to a catastrophe even more horrifying than the present disaster in Iraq, threatening international peace and security. The future of Iran, and its political system and leadership, must be determined solely by the collective will of the Iranian people themselves and not through foreign state interference or intervention.

Increasing international tensions and conflict are destructive to the causes of peace, justice and democracy. We appeal to people of all faiths as well as to people with a secular outlook and those of all political and ideological persuasions, to join us in building an effective international campaign for peace and dialogue, and against sanctions, foreign state interference, destabilization and military intervention in Iran.

The ‘Real Jew’ Debate

Posted by alanmirs on December 12, 2010

To oppose the continued expansion of settlements in the West Bank (“Zionists are not settlers”), or question growing anti-Arab bigotry as personified by Israel’s rightist foreign minister and illustrated by the “loyalty oath” debate, or ask whether the “de-legitimization” of Israel might not have something to do with its own actions is to incur these organizations’ steady ire.

TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) — Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Saturday a cooperative approach can facilitate the negotiations between Iran and the G5+1.

He stressed during a press conference the world powers should never expect nuclear concessions from Tehran because the Iranian government will never give up the country’s nuclear rights, saying “they should not expect anyone to retreat from the Iranian nation’ s rights in future struggles.”

How Iran Derailed a Health Crisis

By TINA ROSENBERG

So how did Iran do it?   How did a conservative theocracy decide to deal with its drug addicts as if it were Canada?  In Tuesday’s column, I wrote that Iran is treating its massive epidemic of injecting drug use mainly as a health problem.  With this strategy, it has effectively managed to lower H.I.V. rates among drug users and keep the disease from spreading.  It has taken an approach to drugs known as harm reduction, which includes the provision of methadone maintenance therapy and clean needles to drug users.

US weighs Iran military option

The US military say that a military strike may only delay Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.

By Kim Ghattas
BBC News, Washington

If Iran decides to go for nuclear weapons, the US may not be able to permanently stop this from happening unless it is willing to occupy the country.

So with the US neither able to impose crippling sanctions nor really eager to take the tough military action needed to permanently disable Iran’s nuclear facilities, Washington’s only options seem to be to either accept a nuclear Iran or find ways to continuously disrupt and slow down Iran’s nuclear ambitions

No reasons to suspect Iran of seeking nuke wpns – Putin
02.12.2010, 07.36
MOSCOW, December 2 (Itar-Tass) – We have “no grounds to suspect Iran of seeking to possess nuclear weapons,” Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said in an interview with CNN’s Larry King.

“Our position is open, and Iran knows it. We will continue to cooperate with all participants in this process until the complete solution to this problem,” the prime minister said answering a question about whether Russia shares the concerns of other countries that Iran is moving towards becoming a nuclear power.

More desperate and useless moves. Does anyone think straight in the Obama administration to know that these silly short-term moves are just like releasing mosquitoes. Is there anyone who wants to resolve the issues, whatever they might be in the wild imagination of Washington bureaucrats?
